Congratulations to our students who took part in the annual Fashion Show, performed in Daltaí and who won a variety of prizes for taking part in Seachtain na Gaeilge activities. It was a tremendously busy week and all the children rose to the occasion. This time – we will let the images do all the talking!
Ní fuaireamar am go dtí anois chun insint daoibh faoin lá iontach a bhí againn inniu – bhíomar ró ghnóthach ag ithe na rudaí deise a cheannaíomar ón siopa a rinne ár ndaltaí! Táimid fós á cheiliúradh Seachtain na Gaeilge agus inniu bhí seans ag na daltaí freastal ar siopa trí mheán na Gaeilge. Bhí an Gaeilge ar an chaighdeán céanna leis na milseoige, cístí, brioscaí agus milseáin a thug na ndaltaí isteach leo inniu – THAR BARR!!! Go Raibh míle maith agaibh as bhur tacaíocht go léir.
We didn’t get a chance to post anything about the great day we had until now – as we were far too busy gorging on the delicious treats we purchased from the shop today! We are still celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge and today the students had a chance to attend a shop through Gaeilge! The level of Irish was the same as the desserts, cakes, cookies and sweets which our students brought in – FANTASTIC! Thank you all so much for your endless support!
Isteach dó trí, amach dó trí. Isteach dó trí, amach dó trí – Cas!! Inniu bhí daltaí Scoil Mhuire ag damhsa sa chéilí mór a bhí againn. Bhí an-chraic ag gach duine! Bhí na daltaí ó na hard ranganna an – chabhrach ar fad. Maith sibh cailíní!
To continue on our Seachtain na Gaeilge adventures, the students of Scoil Mhuire were dancing at our Céilí. Everyone had a super time. The students from the older classes were wonderful at giving the juniors a help in the right direction.
Tá Seachtain na Gaeilge ar siúl faoi láthair agus tá daltaí Scoil Mhuire an-ghnóthach ag damhsa, canadh agus á ceiliúradh gach rud gaelach. Inniu bhí tráth na gceist againn agus amárach beidh céilí againn. Baineann na daltaí an-taitneamh as Seachtain na Gaeilge gach bliain. Má tá tú ag lorg níos mó eolas faoin féile Gaeilge seo – téigh go dtí snag.ie.
Seachtain na Gaeilge is currently underway and the pupils of Scoil Mhuire are very busy dancing, singing and celebrating all things Irish. Today we had a quiz and tomorrow we will be having a Céili (The best dance session you will ever attend!). The students thoroughly enjoy Seachtain na Gaeilge each year. If you are looking for some more information about this Irish language festival go to our website of the week snag.ie.
We hope that you had a wonderful Mother’s Day yesterday. For a glimpse into the effort and love that goes into all the art work created by your children, Ms. Daly’s class sent a number of lovely photos to the blog. I am also attaching photos of the amazing music shakers they made from upcycling old plastic bottles. Another great example of transforming trash into treasure!
We have a very talented bunch of girls and boys here at Scoil Mhuire. Chloe, Emilia and Ola were busy filling Michelle in on all their accolades over the past few days. Chloe came second in a Camogie competition in Banagher. Ola and Emilia were prize winners at a Swimming Gala in Dublin. Well done girls, you are each superstars!
1st class children and parents are enjoying our new Be Active programme after school on Tuesdays. Aimed at promoting health and well-being and introducing the children to physical activity in a fun way. The weather has thankfully permitted thus far and everyone is out and about having a great time – as you can see from the photos! Thank you once again to our parents for taking part.
Today March 3rd, marks World Book Day and the pupils in Scoil Mhuire are busy celebrating this day throughout the school. Ms. Lee’s Junior Infant class was joined by Ms. Fahy’s 4th in some very special shared reading. As you can see from the photos – the magic of story telling never gets old! Ms. Murray’s 6th got into the spirit of World Book Day by transforming into their favourite fictional character. Mary Poppins, Madeline and even Mr. and Mrs Twit could be seen wandering the halls in full costume. Ms. Murray did not let the grown up side down as she paraded about as Angelina Ballerina. Just another eventful day in Scoil Mhuire!
Every child in the school is heading home today with a book token in their bag. All the bookstores are participating – so pop into your nearest one and redeem a book your child is sure to love. For further information on what books you can choose from go to http://www.worldbookday.com/books. Happy reading everyone!!
Also, check out these AMAZING illustrations by our very own Ugne Visickyte in Ms. Mahon’s Class. The talent in this school is simply endless!!!
How appropriate with the new building currently underway that this week marks Engineers Week. Engineers Week is a week-long programme of nationwide events celebrating the world of engineering in Ireland. The week aims to create a positive awareness and spark enthusiasm about the engineering profession among people of all ages, especially students and their teachers and parents.
Our website of the week is engineersweek.ie where you can find lots of different events taking place right around the country. However, the pupils of Scoil Mhuire were extremely lucky as local engineer Paul Cullen took time out from his very busy schedule to show the girls of Ms Daly’s class a few engineering tricks!! They had a wonderful time discovering the endless possibilities of engineering!!
Our very active Parents Association would like to thank everyone who supported our Table Quiz in Hugh Lynch’s Pub last night. The event is very popular with the serious Quiz Heads and those who just enjoy the social occasion and chat. It was lovely to see our past pupils coming out to support the alma mater! We are so proud of each and every one of you. Special thanks to our Quizmaster Marina who kept the questions flowing all night. Thank you to all who supported the event by way of sponsoring prizes for the raffle. Your continuing generosity and support is very much appreciated!!
