The girls of 6th class are learning all about St. Brigid this week. According to tradition, the St. Brigid’s cross is made on the eve of St. Brigid’s Day (1st of February) and replaces the cross made the previous year. It is kept in the home to protect all those living in it from harm. The girls had a great time weaving the rushes to create their very own crosses. There was a cottage industry in operation at one stage!
