Update from Mr. Naughton

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As the school year draws to a close, I would like to thank you for your continued engagement and support throughout this term. I am sure all of you are looking forward to a break at this stage. From a public health perspective, it is good news that our efforts in helping to contain the spread of Covid 19 are having a huge impact. We hope this trend continues in the right direction.

I would like to draw your attention to the following items.

School reports:

You will receive your child’s school report on Thursday 18th next. If you have any queries regarding their report, you may contact your child’s teacher directly on Seesaw, or the office via phone/email.  (057  9321222 / info@scoilmhuiretullamore.ie)

School uniforms:

We sought parental feedback in February regarding our school uniform. Following on from your feedback, our school uniform will be amended, as follows.

  • School tie will be discontinued for all pupils.
  • Girls will have the option of wearing either trousers or school skirt.
  • We are introducing a green crested sweatshirt for junior and senior infants from the start of the coming school year, commencing autumn 2020. We will be introducing this sweatshirt in 1st-6th classes for the following school year, commencing autumn 2021.  (1st-6th classes will retain the existing school jumper for coming school year.)

Therefore, our school uniform, for the school year 2020/21 will consist of:

-Navy trousers.

-Tartan school skirt (Girls will have the option of wearing either trousers or skirt).

-Red polo t-shirt.

-Green crested round neck sweatshirt for junior and senior infants.

-Existing crested jumper for 1st – 6th classes.

Navy trousers and red polo t-shirts will be available from Dunnes Stores, Tesco and usual outlets.

School skirt and jumper will be available from Daru Uniforms and G+T Drapery.

Return to school date:

The new school term will commence on Thursday August 27th . We are awaiting guidance from the Department of Education & Skills as to how teaching and learning might be adapted in the new school year. We will of course keep you updated on any arrangements in this regard.

I will be in touch with you all again soon. In the meantime, take care of yourselves.

Le gach dea- ghuí,

Brendan Naughton,

Principal
